Questions we field every week

Most first-time callers land on the same handful of questions, so here they are without the runaround. Not seeing your particular case here? Drop us a quote request; Della comes back with a straight answer inside the day.

Local rates in brief

  • $150/hr puts two movers and a truck on your job — blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap and the drive time all folded in.
  • $200/hr — a third mover for heavier loads and Summerville homes with a lot of stairs.
  • Cross a state line and it’s a binding flat price on paper before we load, with no fuel charge tacked on later.

Coverage and authority

For interstate jobs we carry US DOT and MC numbers, and close to home we hold Georgia’s household-goods mover license. The free federal floor of 60 cents a pound rides on every load; want more, and we’ll set full-value protection insuring a load for as much as $1,000,000. You then have nine months from the move date to bring a claim.

Are you an actual moving company, or just a booking service?
Absolutely — we're Appaloosa Moving and Storage, a fully licensed and insured Appling, GA mover that fields its own uniformed crews and trucks, working under Georgia household-goods authority together with US DOT and MC numbers.
What does a local Augusta-area move cost?
Two movers and a truck are $150/hr; a three-mover crew is $200/hr, both with blankets, dollies, and shrink-wrap included. Your clock starts when we reach your door, not when we leave the Appling yard.
How far ahead should I lock in a date?
Summer weekends and end-of-month dates fill three to four weeks out, while a mid-month slot in the slow season often books within a week. Trey flags any Masters-week traffic that could affect your day.
Will your crew pack the boxes too?
Blanketing every piece as it goes on and off the truck is standard with the hourly crew. If you'd rather we supply all the boxes and paper, that full-pack work is quoted separately and listed as its own line item on the estimate.
Do you take moves outside Georgia?
Yes — we hold US DOT and MC interstate authority and run lanes out I-20 and I-520 to the Carolinas, Florida, and beyond. The routes hub lists timelines and where prices start.
Can you hold my things between closings?
We do — secured short-term storage on a weekly rate, ideal when your sale and purchase dates don't line up. When your new place is ready, the same crew pulls it and delivers.
What protection comes with the move?
Basic released-value coverage of 60 cents per pound comes standard on every job; ask and we'll upgrade you to full-value protection reaching $1,000,000. Any claim can be filed within nine months of your move.
Can my apartment complex get a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Della writes COIs for condos, complexes, and job sites — send whatever your building requires when you book and she handles it.
Who moves a piano or a gun safe?
Jamal's crew handles uprights, baby grands, and safes through tight Olde Town doorways and Summerville stairs. It's a flat add-on, spelled out on the estimate up front.
How does payment work, and do you take a deposit?
A small deposit locks your date and later credits against the total, and we'll take it as cash, check, or card. The balance is due when the job wraps, at the exact figure your estimate locked in.

A note from Wyatt

When I put my name on Appaloosa Moving and Storage in 2015, I made myself one promise and have kept it on every job since: what we write down is what you pay at the curb — no surprise line items once the truck is loaded. The trucks are ours, and every mover riding them came up through training I run in person.

A one-bedroom off Washington Road and a five-bedroom out toward Clarks Hill Lake get handled exactly the same way — one vetted Appling-area crew and one written flat rate, from the first carton to the last. That steadiness is what keeps our name moving between neighbors all over Columbia and Richmond counties.
